De Meurth, wheffes mis  Kevardhû Tuesday, 6th December Agan kentrevoges a gar bestes pajartr òsek - mergh, llamas, keun, cathes. Hy fernas an diwettha ew  üdngorn! L ôwenek ha liwys ew dhe weles hebma en kewer loos ha disliw. Tho an eborn ha'n mor glas - henn ew maga loos avel l üjiw. E veu tabm bian a r ü dh e'n mettin a-varr, saw woja hedna na veu liw veth.  Bes lebmyn ma kylgh adro dhe'n loor. Our neighbour loves four-legged animals - horses, llamas, dogs, cats. Her latest purchase is a unicorn! It's cheerful and colourful to see this in grey and colourless weather. The sky and the sea were grey - that's as grey as ashes. There was a bit of red in the early morning, but after that there wasn't any colour. But now there's a ring around the moon.

"We have no electricity and no internet. We have no heating. There is a problem." They want to stay with us for the night. It is too late to solve the problem. Perhaps tomorrow will be different!

De Sül, pajora mis  Kevardhû Sunday, 4th December Terweythyow an nowodhow ew pur dha bes terweythyow ma yeyn nowodhow. Gwelys veu morvil bew e'n mor ogas dhe Syllan. Nowodhow da. A live whale was seen in the sea near the Isles of Scilly. Good news. A dead baby dolphin was found on a beach by St Agnes - tangled in fishing gear and drowned. Bad news. On land, if you have money and  car, you can see beautiful lights in Charlestown. The Shipwreck Museum has a Tunnel of Lights. Bad news if you have neither money nor transport!

De Sadorn, tryja mis Kevardhû Saturday, 3rd December Ow whei parys rag niverow brâs? En Kernow ma moy es deg warn ügens mil mildir a geow storek. Ha godresys ens. Diwith ens. Nag üjy an laha ow qwitha keow Sowsnek ow qwitha agan keow. Lies ew pur goth. Nicholas Boson (1667) a gomplas "keow Chei Oon" en Jooan Chy a Hordh. Bes ma keow cottha vel hedna. En Bargen tir Boschigarn, ogas dhe Eglossenar, ma keow ogas dhe beder mil bloodh. Are you ready for big numbers? In Cornwall you will find more than 30,000 miles of historic hedges. And they are threatened. They are unprotected. The law protecting English hedgerows does not protect our hedges. Many are very old. Nicholas Boson (1667) mentioned the hedges of Choon in Jôwan Chei a Horr. But there are hedges older than that. In Bosigarn Farm, near Zennor, there are hedges nearly 4,000 years old.

The weather is quite cold, chilly, though there's no frost or snow. I have a cold. I am coughing and sneezing. I do not have enough voice to speak. I have cancelled my lessons. I do not want to go out. I have a headache. Shall I sleep or write something? I don't have any energy! I should like to be on a beach under the sun in a beautiful warm place. Perhaps Costa Rica? I can dream!

From time to time i write a little blog for children, and today I wrote about biology - the characteristics of life. In English there is a mnemonic - MRS GREN - but it's hard to do something similar in Cornish. Why isn't a car alive?  https://kernowekenchei.blogspot.com/2022/12/at-home-with-cornish-59.html

Nag ew Adhwen dallathys bes namnygen!    The last day of November and it's only 31 days till the last day of the year. Autumn has gone. Winter will start. There are still some scruffy toadstools left. There are leafless trees and evergreen trees, but some trees still have dead leaves. But what season is it? There are already long daffodil buds by the church and yellow gorse flowers in the hedge. Lent? Advent has only just begun!
